First and foremost I am a husband and father. I get stressed and tired like most people do. I practice meditation daily to help me be aware and manage all my emotions so I can live a happy, meaningful life. I have been an educator since 2004 working with students from K-12. My students feed off of my attitude every day. Being present and patient is the key to my success. Struggling with my emotional well-being because of working 16 hour days, stressed, and mentally overworked, I found mindfulness. I needed more so I attended an educators retreat at Blue Cliff Monastery under the direction of Thich Nhat Hanh. The time there was the most amazing experience of my life. I began to practice with my elementary students and saw positive transformation. I have become deeper in my practice and continue to see positive change every day. I continue to practice with my students to help them live a flourishing life. Above is a picture of the mindful space in my classroom. Go here to see the interview from Philly Fox News http://insightminds.com/resources/. I started Insight Minds to continue to support young people and their families outside of school. I also work with school districts developing PD on Social-Emotional Learning and mindfulness.
